Another amazing wedding day, a beautiful couple, stunning bride and lovely reception…

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my love of photography! Here you'll find my latest photo sessions and many more pictures of two kids who make my world go round! A native Oregonian recently transplanted in the South I enjoy all forms of art and the journey it's taking me on. My inspiration? My beautiful children and mother earth.
I am a Nikon user an lover. My favorite part of a photo session with you is capturing those candid real moments, freckles on a child's nose and eyes that say it all.
Some things I enjoy when I'm not taking pictures are: my family, the outdoors, travel, a good run, the rain, Italian food and ice cream!
Why lifestyle portraiture and is it what I want? If you are drawn to photographs that captures life in the moment, then this is what you're looking for! Lifestyle portraiture focuses on those special, candid moments and emotions in life and relationships. I like to think of it as real life with an artistic flare! What does it mean, you're a natural light photographer? Do you only shoot outdoors? I shoot only using natural light from the sun and only do outdoor sessions (with the exception of newborns). This is my style and expertise. I feel that being outdoors gives a sense of freshness to pictures that lends to capturing real moments in real places. How would you describe your style? Natural, organic and artistic---that is what I strive for! I love capturing that candid moment that makes you smile every time you look at it. I love the outdoors & nature and shooting outdoors gives a natural feel to the moment. For more Q&A...visit my website!

As someone who takes unusual amounts of pictures and values each one immensely, I never ask anyone to take mine or attempt the difficult task of a self portrait. But, Sunday evening as the kids and I were out enjoying the the last bit of sun, Grant ran to me and gave me a hug, which is not unusual, but special in more ways than one. He has had a rough couple weeks, including Sunday and he and I both needed that little squeeze and moment together – I had to try and capture it. I am really bad at doing the hold your camera out and getting a good shot…as you can see, but we had fun trying and it was worth it just for the few we captured together-even as much as I cringe seeing myself. So, here I am, here we are…these two kids mean everything to me.

In March the wind
blows down the door
and spills my soup
upon the floor.
It laps it up
and roars for me.
Blowing once
blowing twice
blowing chicken soup
with rice.
Chicken Soup With Rice – Maurice Sendak (A Gracie favorite)
March already!? We will gladly welcome spring!
Saturday Grant asked if we could go to the pool later in the day, mind you it was 24 degrees when we woke up. Here he is wishing, wearing his pool sandals in the sand….at least the sun was out.

A few happenings from the last weeks of February…
There were those two days of sunshine and warmth. We spent all day outside. Why is it that even when drinking from a straw, it can still cover my children’s faces…I asked Grant why there was juice on his forehead and he told me he sneezed with his mouth full. I don’t know what Grace’s excuse was, maybe she was sitting next to Grant when he sneezed.

Ahhh is was nice…

The brief stint of warmer weather made me think about the garden again. Instead of the cotton mulch we ended up getting bags of garden soil, hopefully that will help. The kids helped me one afternoon…I’ve decided the rest I will have to do while Grant’s at school and Grace is napping. Planted peas and lettuce and have found the perfect bean trellis to build, I’m determined!

Can’t forget the tinker toy rifle. And those annoying pine needles. If you’ve seen our yard, one half is yard and the other half garden. The leaves from our below forest all drop on the yard side and these wonderful needles drop on the garden side. I didn’t quite envision that happening, now how do I get rid of them? I would like my plants to continue growing and filling around the stepping stones.
And since my helpers were being so helpful, I suggested we go out front to ride bikes, until I had to pull Grace in screaming because her hands were ice.

Grant plugs along. He’s been a bit feisty lately at home, so were working on that. He has discovered (thanks to kids at school) a few online games, I guess you would call them that. He played a few times and that was about it. Outside is where you’ll find him and if inside he’s building with legos, driving cars around, playing army and now and then you’ll find him reading a book!

Can you see the splashes of red Crystal Light all over his face? Gazoontite!

Have I mentioned how much I love this boy?

Grace keeps me company during the day. She loves her routine of watching a movie while I’m on the treadmill. Books, books, bubbles and bubbles is what she loves. She is good at saying please and thank you and screams at the top of her lungs Daddy’s home! when Mark walks in the door.

Gracie got her tail cut off…her very first hair cut to be exact. It really is more even in the back than it looks (we trimmed it up). Of course we put the tail, I mean, curl into a little baggie for keep sake.

Stop the music! Kim pulled out her sewing machine! Grant said the other day, I can’t believe your the daughter of a really good quilter and you can’t really sew…besides a button! I had to laugh. Yes, my mom is an excellent seamstress and she taught me well, but I have never had the natural knack or enjoyment for it. But, I am working on something special for some dear friends I get to see when I go home to Oregon! But I do want to make a quilt…maybe over the next couple years.

Won’t you be my neighbor? There are many houses for sale in our neighborhood, and just this week our neighbor’s house went up for sale…anyone want to live next door, we’d love some good neighbors!
We are headed to Oregon and I can’t wait!! I apologized to Mark that I was so excited to go…unfortunately he is staying behind. We’ve made our bets about the weather while I’m there and I hope I win! I miss the mild weather, I miss the green, I miss the smell, I miss the property and of course my family. Watching the olympics has made me miss the northwest even more…those commercials for beautiful British Columbia-if you haven’t been before, that is one place you really should go!
And something else to look forward to…Grace turns two on the 25th, we will be celebrating!
Just in case I haven’t said it enough, I am sooooo ready for spring…bring on the flowers!

Welcome March, we’re so glad you’re here!
Remember this beautiful infant…can you believe it’s been three months? She is such a little doll!

She was so tired, we’ll get her smiles next time…

Oh, she’ll tell you all about it.

And if I’m lucky, I sometimes get a kiss for listening.

Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. ~Hans Christian Anderson
Sunshine…pretty please come back!
…I wish, but these will do! Grant found these solar powered glass globes that illuminate at night for me for Valentine’s Day! I am in love.
