This & That | catching up

Life is rolling right along around here!  I’m looking forward to a little R&R with the ones I love most this weekend…

Many little things have been going on and I haven’t spent time documenting those little things, which I should… so let’s try and catch up:  Things like… Grant is well into his third grade year and plugging along, he has lots of homework which none of us like.  Grace started dance and gymnastics at the Little Gym and loves it.  Grant started up scouts again after the summer break.  Grace wrote her name last week.  Grant has showed some interest in maybe wanting to try a sport.  Grace and I have started up her little friends preschool again and she is very happy about it.  Grant can’t decide what he wants to be for Halloween.  Grace is going to be a pink puppy.  Grant went to the Ole Miss vs BYU game with Mark and had fun.  Grace went on her first Father- Daughter campout with dad.  Grant has been into his Playmobil and legos lately.  Grace loves to play with her stuffed animals.  Grant usually changes outfits five times after school to coordinate with his different types of play.  Grace thinks her hair is long and likes to brush it.  Grant has been reading a lot of car and airplane magazines (Mark had subscribed him to a couple months back).  Grace has been drawing and painting lots of people pictures, but has recently added dogs.  Grant is studying rocks and minerals at school.  Grace’s closet is cleaned up, clothes thinned out- I had a successful little sale here at home and just took the rest to consignment (that’s a lot of safety pins)!  Grant & Grace make my world go round…have I mentioned how much I love them!?

Mark is busy with work and church.  He’s been nice and flexible with all my photo sessions…which there have a been a lot of lately!  We have annual passes to all the local museums now, so he and the kids are enjoying rotating through each weekend, he even tracked down the Weiner Mobile in Decatur and took the kids.  I am enjoying meeting and photographing so many new people and seeing so many little ones growing before my eyes (or camera lens).

On the home front I am sad to say my garden is officially a failure.  I just about cried a few weeks ago walking back to look…weeds completely taken over, my creeping plants dying for no reason and even my wooden garden boxes are crumbling apart.  I have decided to not even think about this problem until the spring-maybe just start from scratch.  Sigh.  Something I am very excited and happy about though is a project the city is working on right out my front door!  The Bradford Creek Greenway is well on it’s way to completion and literally steps from my front door!!  This may be the ticket to enjoy running again…or family bike rides….or evening strolls….the possibilities will be endless!!

It’s all these little things that make the big picture and I sure feel blessed!  I’m ever so ready for Fall, my favorite season, I just love it!  I bought some mini pumpkins and pulled out some Fall decor, but my sister says it’s too early for the Halloween ones…maybe next week:)

Grant is a rarity in front of the camera these days…if I’m lucky to catch a shot it would be like this…mid-play, out back.  Outfit consisting of jacket covered by large fly fishing vest, topped with a belt …some sort of combat gear I’m sure.

And Miss Grace…she’s been taming praying mantises lately while drawing with sidewalk chalk.  She still lets me kiss her cheeks a lot, I’m grateful for my time with her.

They are growing up too fast…don’t you think!?

Happy almost Friday!!

Amy - One of the cutest ballerinas I have ever seen!

Dana - Super fun post! Love your family. :)

Heidi - I’ve missed looking through your pictures, Kim. You are so very talented.

Cami - Love the catch up. They are getting so big. Where do you get Grace’s cute hair accessories? Gretchen is finally getting into wearing things in her hair.

Quincy - These posts are my favorite. I am so excited about fall, too! Grace looks sooooo cute in her dancing attire!

Sharon - I enjoyed reading your post! The kids sure look adorable and it sounds like they are enjoying a variety of activities. I am glad y’all are getting a greenway so close to you. That will be fun! Grace sure is cute in her dance clothes.

Alisha - I was just going to say how grown up grace looks. Such a beautiful girl!
